the city of surprisingly kind strangers
What a day! We set off from the Upper West Side this morning on a mission - to go to Gotham Quilts and Purl SoHo. Here are some highlights of the day:
A total of FIVE different men helping me navigate unexpected elevator shutdowns by carrying all 80 pounds of our stroller + twins up subway staircases. I only asked one of these kind strangers for help!
An elderly man on the 2 train who announced to the car, “I don’t want your money. I just want to tell you young men, sitting down while grandmas and pregnant ladies stand up, that you should be ASHAMED.” Preach!
Kind ladies at Gotham Quilts who showed me the ropes of what I need to have to start quilting (surprisingly little!) and an out-of-towner who insisted that her purchase get counted for four punches on my loyalty card.
Experiencing the wondrous land of Purl SoHo! I cannot WAIT to knit with their luxurious, gorgeous yarns and someday make quilts with their line of florals from Liberty fabrics. Even better, I found out I can order yarn to my apartment by phone to avoid the trip (although that’s half the fun, let’s be honest).
Trying out my 50 mm prime lens for some portrait photography of my favorite little guys at Vesuvio Playground.
The insanely delicious (vegan!) chocolate chip banana bread at Sweets by Chloe.
The countless people who opened doors at every establishment I visited so I could wheel in my giant stroller unhindered and complimented / entertained my boys in the process.
Hope you enjoy the pics of my cutie pies! I almost collapsed in exhaustion when we finally got home. You have no idea how much twin chasing I had to do to get these shots AND keep both boys safe at the same time :P
